Boys on bikes...

I believe I mentioned before in a previous post that Ian received a brand new bike for his 3RD birthday.  It's a Toy Story bike, complete with a honking horn and a bubble machine that makes bubbles as he peddles and zips around on it.  Funny thing about Ian and his bike though is that he still has yet to ride it!  He likes to push it around, he likes to sit on it but he won't even attempt to pedal or move anywhere on it.  He makes me laugh.  He's practically the size of a 5 or 6 year old and he's probably as strong as a 10 year old (seriously he's all muscle!), you'd imagine that with a build like his he'd go crazy on a bike or a skateboard or anything else that can be propelled, but on the contrary, he's pretty timid and EXTREMELY stubborn. He can't be forced or encouraged to try something new; he has to attempt to do it on his own terms.

Cohen doesn't yet have a big boy bike of his own, (he still rides a tricycle) but since his older brother Ian doesn't use his own, he's lent his bike to Cohen to ride.  I've never seen a kid more proud of himself than my Cohen for peddling around on a bike bigger than himself.  He doesn't get very far on the bike, just a couple of feet, but you'd had thunk he just finished racing in the Tour de France, he's so darn proud of himself!

This dude on the bike below (Noah) also got a brand new bike the same time Ian received his.  Noah bought his  bike with his own $$$money$$$ that he'd earned a while ago while learning to use the toilet (we agreed to pay him a dollar for every time he went number two in the toilet; it was the ONLY trick that worked helping him finally get 100% potty trained). The bike he chose is a red Disney Cars bike.  He ABSOLUTELY LOVES his bike. It too has a loud horn on it he can "honk" when he pleases and a bubble machine.  The girls in the neighborhood like to chase him around the bike path "popping" the bubbles (I personally think they're also drawn to him because he's just a "chick magnet").  It took Noah a day or two to figure out how to ride his bike (his coordination is a little bit underdeveloped and slightly delayed due to his hypotonia) but once he got the hang of it, he's been in "bikers paradise" He's even popping "wheelies"; I don't imagine it will be much longer before he asks us to take off his training wheels.
